Sri Lanka and India are considering allowing private firms to launch a passenger ferry service between the two countries. The service, previously operated by an Indian state-run company, was halted about 15 years ago when ethnic tensions erupted in Sri Lanka, officials said. The service, when launched, would operate between the south Indian port of Tuticorin and the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
