Panamanian Register Extends Lead

The percentage of ship owners choosing to register their vessels in Panama continues to rise, according to Lloyd's Register. The Panamanian-flagged fleet grew by eight percent to 98.2 million gt although by ship numbers it fell 45 to 6,143 vessels. Panama now has 18.5 percent of the total world fleet followed by Liberia with about 11.4 percent.
