RightShip, NorthStandard Expand Maritime Risk Collaboration
RightShip and marine insurer NorthStandard have formed a strategic partnership to strengthen maritime loss prevention by sharing vessel inspection reports, aiming to reduce duplicate inspections and improve the use of existing safety data.
Under the collaboration, NorthStandard will use RightShip's safety and risk intelligence platform and will be able to request existing RightShip inspection reports through the company's secure report-sharing capability, reducing the need for separate vessel inspections.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with dry bulk ship manager Orion Reederei, is intended to enable broader reuse of trusted inspection information while reducing the operational burden on vessel owners, managers and crews.

Through this collaboration, NorthStandard will use RightShip's safety and risk intelligence to enhance loss prevention and improve visibility of risk across its portfolio. Secure inspection report sharing is an important part of that, helping reduce duplicate inspections while making better use of inspection information that already exists,” said Andrew Roberts, Executive Director, EMEA & Americas, RightShip.

According to RightShip, vessel owners and managers in the dry bulk and general cargo sectors are often subject to inspections by multiple organisations covering similar aspects of vessel operations, creating disruption for crews and increasing costs.
The company said wider adoption of trusted inspection data could improve consistency and transparency while allowing inspection efforts to focus on areas of greatest safety risk.
