Rigid Sails, Flexible Fuel Savings Solutions

bound4blue is one of several Wind-Assisted Propulsion Systems (WAPS) aiming to make a dent in the commercial ship market, looking to outfit commercial ships with modern sails to help ships reduce power load on their main engines and save fuel and emissions along the way. With more than 100 WAPS vessels operating today, according to statistics from the International Windship Association, bound4blue has a nice chunk of the market with installations on 11 vessels and orders for 9 more, cumulatively 58 sails from this company alone. Daniel Mann, COO, bound4blue, visited recently with Maritime Reporter TV to discuss the market, the challenges and the outlook for 2026 and beyond.
