UASC to Enter North Atlantic Trade

The vessel sharing agreement will see the three partner companies operate a service that links North Europe with the United States East Coast, calling at the ports of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Le Havre, Southampton, New York, Norfolk, Charleston and Savannah. 

 

The service will offer competitive transit times and a weekly capacity allocation of 3,300 teu. The new service will start in May.

 

UASC says that the move into the North Europe - North America trade marks an important step in the expansion of UASC’s global network. 

 

“This announcement marks an exciting new chapter for UASC as we enter the North Atlantic service and further cement our position as an emerging global carrier,” said Jørn Hinge, president and CEO of UASC.

 

“Broadening our network coverage through partnership agreements is an integral part of UASC’s ambitious expansion plans.”

 

It is the latest in a series of major partnership moves by the owner, which formed the Ocean3 alliance with CMA CGM and CSCL last year.

 

It has also been in talks with Hamburg Sud on further cooperation after agreeing to enter the South American trades with the German company.
