Dominican Navy Commissions Second Metal Shark Near Coastal Patrol Vessel
The Dominican Navy has received its second 85’ x 19.5’ welded aluminum Near Coastal Patrol Vessel (NCPV), built by Louisiana-based boat builder Metal Shark.Christened ARCTURUS CG-114 in keeping with the Dominican tradition of naming military vessels after constellations and celestial bodies, the new patrol craft was built at Metal Shark’s Franklin, Louisiana shipyard and officially incorporated into the Dominican Navy during a ceremony at the Port of Sans Soucí on August 31st.
Meyer Turku Christens Finnish Border Guard Patrol Vessel
The construction of the Finnish Border Guard’s two multipurpose offshore patrol vessels, ordered from Meyer Turku, has proceeded to the traditional christening ceremony carried out in equipping stage. On Friday, August 22, 2025, the first vessel was christened Karhu. The christening was carried out by the vessel’s godmother, Mrs Suzanne Innes-Stubb. The ceremony took place in the shipyard Uudenmaan Työvene, where the vessel will be equipped. The ship will be delivered to its owner in winter 2026.

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has hosted the naming ceremony of a Damen Stan Patrol (SPa) 2005 for the Dutch National Police. The new vessel – named P64 – marks the second vessel in a six-ship contract between Damen and the Dutch Police.The Dutch Police will use the new SPa 2005 for deployment on the Netherlands’ extensive inland waterways. Three New Damen FCS Patrol Vessels for SR Platforms
In one week Damen Shipyards Group has launched an FCS 3007 Patrol vessel and, in cooperation with the same owner, SR Platforms, successfully completed the sea trials of two FCS 4008 Patrol vessels. This brings the number of Damen ships in SR Platforms’ fleet up to four, following the delivery of its first FCS 3307 Patrol in October 2015.These milestones follow the contract signings taking place just a few months earlier, with those for the FCS 4008 vessels occurring in July this year and that for the FCS 3007 at the beginning of April.
