Zvezda Shipyard Comes Up Despite Western Sanctions
German and Finnish partners continue to build Russia’s Far Eastern “Zvezda” shipyard for Arctic oil exploration ships, in spite of Western sanctions, reports Sputnik.
According to Director of the Far Eastern enterprise Yuri Filecroc, German and Finnish partners are working at the shipyard diligently, as they are interested in the job. They have an honored contract and understand that they have to work for the money they receive…
"We hope they will cooperate with us, as these companies are global leaders," he added.
The “Zvezda” factory, located in Russia’s Far East, is the leading plant for repairing submarines of the Pacific Fleet.
It is also the region’s unique engineering complex for fixing, upgrading and modernizing ballistic missile submarines. The shipyard will become operational in 2016. It will build vessels for hydrocarbon exploration in the Arctic.
Shipbuilding complex Zvezda is being created in Bolshoi Kamen within the framework of the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center. The first phase is to be completed in 2016, the second and the third – in 2018.
The production is to be launched in the first quarter of 2016. The complex is supposed to build vessels for the development of hydrocarbon fields on the Arctic shelf.
